Reading and Writing Workshop follow a similar pattern and is probably very familiar to our Steck families.

Language Craft and Skills Block
This time of the day focuses on conventions (grammar, punctation, spelling) and vocabulary word study.

Assignments/ Assignment Expectations

Please refer to each student's planner and homework folder to access homework assignments.

Homework will almost always consist of the following:
- Reading for a minimum of 20 minutes daily and record in their reading logs
- Study weekly spelling words (Please refer to the spelling support page.)
- Reviewing the weekly conventions skill through a variety of assignments.
- Occasional writing assignments

There will also be additional assignments and final projects for each genre studied to support their growth as readers and writers. Students will be given a due date as well as a rubric to indicate the requirements of the assignment.

Friday Folders: Anything that goes home to the students is filed in the homeroom file basket outside of the class. A parent volunteer stuffs the folders every Friday. The afternoon class passes out the folders on Friday. The students return the folders every Monday to the homeroom return box.
